He is perhaps best known for the films he made with Judy Garland, including Babes in Arms (1939), Strike Up the Band (1940) and Girl Crazy (1943), all directed by Busby Berkeley, and the Andy Hardy series of 16 films from 1937 to 1958 (three of which also featured Garland).
